Lesson #1 Day 1   New Photo Assignment: Color Basics / Library of Images.    Due: Day 7 of Lesson #1: Process film and make a contact sheet for grading.  Two Prints from the Library of Images assignment will be printed and graded for the Day 7 Lesson #2 Critique.

New Photoshop Assignment: Cover for your Photography Portfolio Notebook.   Due: Day 7 of Lesson #1 (using Photoshop is optional, you may use photo collage or a drawing.)

Day 2   Demonstration  -  C-41  Discussion of SUBJECT, FORM, and CONTENT
Day 3   Web Search Photographers Research.  Compile separate word documents of all of the assigned Web Search Photographers.  Remember that you must find, cut-and-paste to your word document, at least two (2) examples of each photographers work in addition to the biographical information.  Use the links on the Photo Links page to find your information.  If you need to find further information do a more extensive web search.  Don't forget to follow the form for your documents given to you by Mr. Stanforth: Heading, Name of Photographer, Two Examples with title and date (other info if given), body of biographical information, and a list of at least three of the most important photographic achievements of this photographer and your reasons for your choice.  Save all information to a file.  These will be printed later.

Color Photo Basics / Library of Images Assignment

Two (2) 36 exposure 400 speed rolls of Color Negative Film, process and print contact sheets for critique.  The best two images from this assignment will be printed at a later time.

ROLL #1 - Do at least two or three frames of each of the following:

PRIMARY COLORS

  1. Red

  2. Yellow

  3. Blue

SECONDARY

  1. Purple

  2. Orange

  3. Green

WARM COMBINATION

  1. Red, Yellow, Orange

COOL COMBINATION

  1. Purple, Blue, Green

COMPLIMENTARY COMBINATION

  1. Red/Green

  2. Yellow/Purple

  3. Blue/Orange

  4. Black/White

SINGLE COLOR ON B&W/GREY FIELD

  1. Red or Orange

  2. Blue or Green

  3. Purple or Yellow

ROLL #2 LINES AND TEXTURES

  1. Lines made by nature

  7. Found Letters in nature  (at least 3 different)

Library of images Assignment

Shoot two (2) thirty-six (36) exposure rolls of 400 speed color negative film, process and print contact sheets for critique. The best two images from this assignment will be printed at a later time.

In any order using both rolls,  shoot the following.  These image will be used throughout the school year for various assignments.

INDOORS NO FLASH

  1. a person watching TV

  2. a person using a computer

  3. a naturally occurring still life

  4. the basement

  5. the garage

  6. a normal family activity

  7. someone in a mirror with their reflection (not the photographer)

INDOORS USE A FLASH

  1. a person resting or sleeping

  2. in the garage

  3. the attic or other rarely used or seen place

  4. surprise someone

  5. someone posing for you

  6. someone dressed up

  7. someone in a mirror with their reflection (not the photographer and watch out for the flash)

OUTDOORS FULL SUNLIGHT

  1. a person facing you (with your back to the sun) squinting because of the sun in their eyes.

  2. a person facing you (with you facing the sun) YOU MUST USE A WHITE CARD FOR FILL LIGHT

  3. a man made object

  4. close up of a toy

  5. a swing set in use

  6. other recreation thing in use

  7. reflection in water

OUTDOORS EARLY MORNING OR LATE EVENING (DAWN AND/OR DUSK)

  1. a beautiful sunrise or sunset

  2. someone in partial light and partial shade

  3. long shadows

OUTDOORS AT NIGHT NO FLASH

  1. cars in motion

  2. unusual colored lights

  3. looking in a window of your home

  4. busy fast food place

  5. blurred image

OUTDOORS AT NIGHT USE A FLASH
