Johnnie serves as Visual Designer and Consultant for Moeller High School. Johnnie is also on staff at Colerain HS serving as Colorguard Coordinator, and Visual Instructor, and is also Visual Coordinator at Conner High School where his responsibilities include visual coordination and design of the marching band and winter guard. In addition to working with band programs, Johnnie is a full time music student (trumpet) at Northern Kentucky University, where he is a member of CMENC, president of the newly formed Kappa Omega Chapter of the Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, and a finalist in the 2002 Corbett Scholar Competition.
 
Johnnie serves as Visual Caption Head at the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps from Milwaukee, WI. Johnnie serves as the visual designer and consultant for Taylor County HS (Campbellsville, KY), and Normal West HS (Normal, IL). Johnnie is also on the Board of Directors of the Tri-State Circuit for the Pageantry Arts.
 
Growing up in Danville, IL, Johnnie had a very musical background studying voice at an early age. While in high school, he performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City for the National Youth Performance Debut Series. After graduating from high school, he studied trumpet with Dr. Amy Gilreath at Illinois State University where he performed in the Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Trumpet Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and was a featured soloist on the 1993 Marching Band tour. Johnnie has also studied with Parker Melvin at Eastern Illinois University, Michael Tunnell at the University of Louisville, Judith Saxton at Illinois Wesleyan University, and Dr. Jonathan Gresham and Drew Cremisio at Northern Kentucky University.
 
From 1991-1994, Johnnie was a lead soprano for The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps from Rosemont, IL winning the 1992 Drum Corps International World Championship , and Individual & Ensemble World Championships in 1992 and 1994.
 
Johnnie began instructing color guard and marching band in 1990. He was on the staff at Normal Community High School in Normal, IL beginning in 1991 teaching trumpet, brass, marching, and color guard. In 1995 Johnnie was appointed Brass and Marching Caption Head at both Normal Community, and Normal West High School where he served there until November of 1997. Currently, Johnnie works with Normal West on a consultation basis. Some of the accomplishments while working with the "Normal" bands were:

In November of 1997, Johnnie relocated to the Cincinnati area to get a fresh start, and continue his work as the Brass Caption Head with the Cincinnati Glory Drum & Bugle Corps. While with Glory, he helped them become only the second first-year corps to advance to the Drum Corps Midwest Championship Finals (Star of Indiana being the first corps).  He also conducted performances at the Aronoff Center and Music Hall for the Induction of the Classical Music Hall of Fame.
 
Since coming to Cincinnati, Johnnie has designed for other area bands as well, including Sycamore High School, Amelia High School, and Beechwood High School. In his free time he enjoys spending time with friends and family, camping, and good seats at Cincinnati Reds baseball games
