Still Waters
John DeNicola

I heard a voice, "Sit and please remain calm"
The passengers panicked in their small seats
The water-closer, we were going down
The plane hit the surface, one last retreat
Crashed into the icy, blue, Arctic sea
Faces were filled with both sorrow and fear
The praying and crying surrounded me
"Our Father," I began and shed a tear
A mother held her baby to her breast
Pressure on the glass gave the crack a start
The windows' all had cracked, the water chill
I closed mine eyes and did not watch the rest
The water froze my slowly breaking heart
The darkness crept in and I lay still. Still.
